What is DFT? How Design for Testability improves test coverage and what design rules matter.
What is DFT?
DFT (Design for Testability) optimizes PCB design for effective electrical testing of the finished assembly.
DFT ensures an assembly can be effectively tested after manufacturing. Key rules include adequate test points on accessible positions, test pads on one side, sufficient spacing between test points and avoiding test points under components.
Practical Application
Good DFT design reduces test costs and increases fault coverage, whether using ICT or Flying Probe Test.
